Thank you for your interest in my campaign for judge. Most often, folks have their one and only experience with our justice system in a local community court. These courts handle everything from traffic tickets and small claims to serious alcohol and drug related criminal offenses, domestic violence, and auto accidents. There’s no such thing as a “minor” case in these courts. Every case is important to someone, and every person’s view of the fairness of our courts depends on what they see happening there.
I decided to run for District Court Judge here in Shoreline because I believe that these courts should have the best the legal profession has to offer. Those qualifications should not be reserved for the “higher” courts. Our judges need to be hard-working, thoughtful, fair, knowledgeable, and experienced – but also engaged in problem-solving and open to the benefits of technology and new ideas. For example, many courts across the country are innovating with new approaches to untreated mental illness and opioid addiction – working to do a better job of ensuring both public safety and a healthier community. I want to be a part of that work. My wife and I are raising our family here. I have a vested interest in keeping our community a great place to live, work, and go to school – for everyone.
I hope you’ll take a moment to read a bit about my background. I plan to work hard to earn your trust and support throughout this campaign – and ultimately, your vote in November.
